![]() Of course the only way to find this sweet spot is to set the microphone up and yell. You need to set it at a level where it's not going to be distorting when you yell. Other than that, the gain is a very fickle thing. Sound is a physical phenomenon and if you're having a table mounted arm on a table that is constantly receiving shocks from your hands and fingers, and you don't have a shockmount, then you're obviously going to have a bad time. ![]() I have a Shure SM57 with the A2WS pop filter on it, and I have it on a floor-standing tripod mic stand (which if you're recording anything should be in your equipment list) instead of a deskmount stand that most people seem to have these days (for reasons other than space constraints IDK why. I don't use any software and I also don't have a mechanical keyboard, but from what I can tell, my setup is rather noiseless. Audio engineer by profession here, have dealt with this enough times to be jaded at the lack of information around communities like this.
